Hello Friends of Life,
Our Banquet on May 2nd was exceptional!   Carol Everett was an outstanding speaker and our audience says, "the best banquet ever!"  $6,094 was given in the offering and with our table sponsors and contributors to date we raised $20,046.  Our banquet expenses were $6,158.  So our total Banquet income to date after expenses is $13,888.  We praise the Lord for his goodness.  Considering the tornado that occurred that day in our nearby town of Earle, we feel totally humbled and blessed to have had a capacity crowd at the banquet.  Also, the Dallas Heartbeat Intn'l conference was a great success in our setting up our first booth for the National Helpline.  It acquainted us with pregnancy center directors, staff and volunteers from all around the world.  We had opportunity to share about the National Helpline during Allen Parker's keynote luncheon address.  After that our booth was swamped!  We provided resources to various centers in Mexico, Africa, New Zealand and other states in the US, recruited new volunteers and staff for the Helpline and did lots of networking with other pro life ministries. We had the awesome opportunity to eat and visit with Norma McCorvey and other national leaders.   But it seemed that our world stopped this past Sunday, May 11th on Mother's Day when we received a call from one of our birth mothers that her baby girl was born early at home and we were facilitating the adoption!  We had only met once with the birth mom since she had just been referred to us the week before.  Wow! Angie & I and others at the center became mothers for two days as we were the temporary guardians until the adoptive parents could arrive from another state.  As I was driving to the hospital, I prayed "Lord, this baby hasn't been named yet and I wonder what you would want her named?"   I began to think about the month of May and Mother's Day.  I thought, "I think I will call her something May or Baby May."  I arrived at the hospital and went in to see, hold and feed the baby.  I called the adoptive parents to begin to describe her features.  All of a sudden, her adoptive mom said, "Oh Millie, I forgot to tell you that her name is Alexa Mae!"  I started crying and thanking God for this new little life that he totally has planned, even with her name....I'm not using spell check, Ha!  Please keep Alexa Mae, her birth mom and the adoptive parents in your prayers as we continue to get the adoption process completed. We will post pics later on the website.  Also, remember us as we present this weekend at Taylorville, Illinois Joy Assembly church and Daughters of the King banquet. Until the next update......
